WPC Days of Prayer

Feedback from World Prayer Centre - Day of Prayer, 27 February 2010

The day began with praise, worship and the declaration of Isaiah 61 v 1,2.  We acknowledged that there are big battles on many fronts, but today we chose to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ, putting off despair and putting on the garment of praise.

The Lord encouraged us to keep ‘seeking His face and His presence', as our praises of Him were cutting furrows to be filled with His living water.

A focus throughout the day was to pray for the favour of God and man, like Pharaoh with Joseph.  We heard encouraging stories of how that is starting to happen in Birmingham, but also of how desperate the state of the nation really is!  Tough times are coming, but it is time for God's people to rise up and proclaim the hope in Jesus.  We prayed bold prayers for the releasing of God's life across the nation and were exhorted to ‘strengthen the weak knees' because victory was very close.

After ‘Hope08' which was a wonderful initiative to help mobilise the church across the UK in prayer and action, the Lord has now released a fresh ‘Hope' vision for 2011-2014 to reach the whole nation with the Gospel - a movement that we can all be part of.  There is also the Global Day of Prayer on 23 May 2010, plus vision to establish a year of prayer and hold prayer events in large venues leading up to the 2012.  All this needs ongoing prayer to see it happen.

Internationally, we heard about the 24-7 prayer going on at the Winter Olympics, the rapid growth of the Church in Indonesia, the tragic earthquake in Chile, miracles in Afghanistan, persecution in Morocco, and the growth of houses of prayer around the world.  We directed our prayers accordingly!
