Our last WATCH + PRAY gathering in December at the WPC house of prayer was an amazing time, which drew people from across England to come and pray together for our nation the week before the General election.

We started in the John 1:36 with John the Baptist declaring “Behold the Lamb of God!” as Jesus walked past.  We feel that we are in a season of encouraging Christians to “behold His Glory”.  Behold, although rarely used in the new bible translations, means to see or observe someone or something, especially of a remarkable or impressive nature.

Ian Cole shared that he feels God is calling us in 2020 to:

  • Behold
  • Be alert
  • Be ready
  • Be involved

God is calling us to be set apart beholding His glory and living for Him.  It may seem strange to some and even uncomfortable (even to the church) but God wants our full attention so that we know and hear what He is calling us to do.

We went on to pray for the general election, happening a few days later, and for us to “behold His glory” so we know His direction in how to vote when many don’t seem to know what to do!  It’s a time to trust God to lead us in which way we should vote.

We also prayed for the media and the negative influence that it has in society and prayed for a turning of the tide and salvation in key media positions so that we see a flood of “good news” stories in the media to give glory to God, rather than bad news

We prayed for peace on our streets for the election, and after the outcome, and over the Christmas period.

Finally, we finished with a look around the globe to pray about the major disturbances around the world.  There is uncertainty and shaking all over the world, but in the midst, God is doing amazing things.  Hungary has just publicly declared itself a Christian nation!

Places to pray for:

  • Spain – Split from Catalonia
  • Germany – immigration issues
  • Ukraine – continuing Russia issue
  • Algeria – riots
  • Venezuela, Chile and Ecuador – riots and unrest
  • Burundi – on the edge of genocide
  • Zimbabwe – political uncertainty
  • Sudan and Egypt – riots
  • Lebanon – 2 million Syrian refugees
  • Israel – 200 rockets a day fired on them
  • Hong Kong – riots
  • Australia – bush fires

The list goes on!  Let’s continue to pray and trust God that He knows what He is doing and He is using little old us to pray for His Kingdom to come on earth as it is in Heaven!
